Labor Express RadioFor almost 25 years, Labor Express Radio has been the only English language labor news and current affairs radio program in Chicago… “News for working people, by working people.” The program covers issues in the labor movement locally, nationally, and internationally. The program also addresses issues of concern to working people such as housing, education, health care, immigrants rights, the environment and U.S. foreign policy, from a working class viewpoint. Labor Express Radio is a member of the Committee for Labor Access, a non-profit entity which is also responsible for the production of the Labor Beat TV program on cable access television in Chicago.

Open AirWavesOpen Air(waves) is an annual open call to the SAIC community looking to showcase their work through Free Radio SAIC. Free Radio SAIC is the student-run Internet radio station of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Members develop shows according to their interests. Examples include: curated mixes, traditional and experimental sound art, narratives, informative or news-oriented talk shows, interviews and live performances. Station membership is open to any SAIC student, faculty, staff or alumni. It is our goal to encourage the SAIC community to play and expand upon traditional broadcast and to produce original radio experiences.

Art Design Chicago Talk SeriesThe Art Design Chicago Talk Series by Lumpen Radio is set to explore and celebrate Chicago’s rich artistic heritage and its diverse creative communities. This series will examine the intersections of art, design, and activism and the city’s relationship with indigeneity, migration, and displacement.
Through a series of broadcasted conversations in Spanish and English with the artists, curators and cultural organizers behind the exhibitions featured as part of Art Design Chicago, Lumpen Radio hosts will highlight the evolution and impacts of these projects. This initiative promises an extensive exploration of Chicago’s cultural and artistic identity, broadening the narratives of American art.
The Art Design Chicago Talk Series is part of Art Design Chicago, a citywide collaboration initiated by the Terra Foundation for American Art that highlights the city’s artistic heritage and creative communities.
