Celebrate 10 Years of Lumpen Radio!

Join us as we celebrate 10 years of Lumpen Radio, A decade of Low Power Airwaves to the people.

Launched in 2016 by Public Media Institute, Lumpen Radio (WLPN-LP 105.5 FM) has spent the past decade amplifying the voices, music, and stories that rarely make it onto commercial airwaves. From neighborhood journalism and multilingual programming to experimental music, youth radio, and grassroots cultural coverage, Lumpen Radio is built by and for our communities.

Over the years, hundreds of DJs, producers, journalists, artists, and organizers have helped shape the station into a platform for Chicago’s independent culture. Together we’ve broadcast thousands of hours of programming, supported local scenes, and created a space where community voices can be heard across the city.

To mark this milestone, we’re inviting friends, listeners, DJs, artists, and neighbors to gather for a special anniversary celebration.
