Chicago Immigration Hub

The Chicago Immigration Hub is a multilingual network of local newsrooms providing reliable, solutions-oriented news and information centering immigrants and their experience in the Chicago region.

This is a project that groups together media outlets such asLumpen Radio, Borderless Magazine, La Raza, La Voz, Block Club Chicago, Chicago Sun-Times, WBEZ, South Side Weekly, The TRiiBE, Cicero Independiente, Injustice Watch, Chicago Reader, ProPublica, Reparations Media y Chinatown Spotlight, that collaborate on bringing closer to our communities information about service, news, mutual-aid programs, and more resources.

Lumpen Radio is part of the Chicago Immigration Hub through Boletín Migrante, a radio program produced in partnership with Chicago Community and Workers’ Rights (CCWR) that explains and analyzes current events affecting migrant communities.

Through dialogue and analysis, Boletín Migrante provides context, clarifies questions, and helps listeners understand how news and policies impact their communities. The program also highlights stories of resistance, resilience, and collective action, offering an alternative perspective that centers migrants’ experiences, achievements, and challenges.

In addition to its digital platform, the Chicago Immigration Hub published a special print edition featuring stories of resilience, perseverance, cultural adaptation, and survival through traditional reporting, investigative journalism, and first-person narratives from immigrant communities. Interactive QR codes throughout the publication connect readers to expanded stories, podcasts, photography, digital resources, and other multimedia content online.
