Join us for a special live recording of Boletín Migrante where we’ll be joined by organizers and advocates for a conversation about immigrant workers’ rights, labor issues, and the current challenges facing immigrant communities in Chicago.

🎤 Hosted by Rosi Carrasco (Chicago Community and Workers’ Rights) and Stephanie Manriquez (Lumpen Radio) in a conversation about something that often sits in the background of the immigration debate: work.

Immigrants are part of the restaurants we eat in, the warehouses that move our goods, the factories that make our products, construction sites, cleaning crews, kitchens, delivery networks and so many other workplaces across Chicago.

But what happens when an immigrant worker isn’t paid? When a workplace is unsafe? When somebody wants to organize with their coworkers? And what happens when immigration status—or the threat of immigration enforcement—is used to keep a worker quiet?

We’ll be talking about immigrant workers’ rights: which ones exist, the fights that came before us, the gaps that remain, and the workers and organizers who continue to confront them.

We hope this conversation can help bring greater awareness to the work that has been happening for decades within immigrant communities, and make these stories, struggles, and victories more visible.

Joining us are Martín Unzueta, Founder and Executive Director of Chicago Community and Workers’ Rights; Kevin Herrera, Legal Director at Raise the Floor Alliance; Xóchitl Bada, Chair in the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago; and Alberto Benitez, a worker who has been organizing alongside his former coworkers against unfair conditions from a former employer.
