An African Abroad

Sunday
12:00Monthly (3rd Day Above)

Titled after Olabisi Ajala’s 1963 travel memoir, An African Abroad is about affirming migrant autonomy. Ajala’s legend, spanning countless countries and cities including a 28-day bicycle ride from Chicago to Los Angeles, is filled with enthusiasm and desire. Drawing inspiration from Ajala’s rebellion against border-spaces, the show presents Black/African tunes and guest chats to maintain diasporic meaning and to communicate the African migrant experience. The show encourages listeners to remain boundless in sonic matter and in their day-to-day living in Chicago and beyond.
